Investors Want Sustainable, Profitable Growth

In 2007, $1 of every $9 of investor money under professional management, equaling $2.7 Trillion, sought to “do good” at the same time as “making money” – in other words, to deliver both Human Impact + Profit (HIP).

Last year, this “socially responsible investing” (SRI) segment grew six-times faster (18%) than the overall average (3%), as investors increasingly want a “triple bottom line” — social, environmental AND financial returns. Yet, the “negative screening” and “shareholder activist” SRI approach that has dominated this field is not fully leveraging its power – for social change, environmental sustainability or unleashing business innovation.

HIP Investor Inc.’s investment methodology, published in Fast Company magazine in 2007 and 2008, enables investors to evaluate companies (by rating the full value, not screening them out) that are emerging as the leaders of the 21st century – and deliver sustainable, profitable growth for investors and society.
